We welcomed The Royal Institute of Science into school today. Little Team Rowner enjoyed an interactive science show and big Team Rowner engaged in professional learning after school. The science shows were jam-packed with experiments, explosions and hands-on participation by the children. The show reinforced some of their science learning and was complementary to learning to come later in the year. The children explore the chemistry of fossil fuels, particularly the production of CO2; the history of our understanding of CO2’s effect on the climate; and the physics and chemistry of storing electricity. We found out why we need to stop burning things and what we could do instead to fulfil our needs in the future. The fire was a highlight!!
