We encourage parents/carers to view our school prior to applying for a place for your child. This year, due to the pandemic, we are unable to invite prospective parents/ carers to our Open Morning and Open Afternoon. Please remember that any junior school applications need to be received by HCC no later than 15 January 2021.
We plan to send home information regarding transition, via Rowner Infant School book bags, before the 2021 May half-term and posting to families who are joining us from other schools.
For those of you seeking a school place now, we are currently unable to offer tours of our school. You may like to access our 360 Tour which you can find on our website or call us on Tel: 01329 280299, we are more than happy to answer any questions or queries you may have. Our classrooms are small so it is important we maintain class sizes of no more than 30 per class.
Below, you will be able to find all the information and links that you need to apply to enrol your child to Rowner Junior School which is proud to be part of The Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust (GFM). The first policy below references our admissions for September 2021, the second for 2020 and the third for 2019.
Application Deadlines for transfer to year 3 September 2021
If your child is in Year 2 you will be starting to plan for their move to Junior School.
Summary of admission procedures for Year 3 September 2021 to August 2022 MAIN ROUND
o The main round application window opens on 1 November 2020
o The national closing date for application is 15 January 2021 (any applications made after this date will be processed as late applications)
o The national notification date for offers is 16 April 2021

This is the site where you can apply for your school place. If your child has been refused admission to our school, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. You may appeal for more than one school.
Timeline for applications to Year 3 for September 2021
Online application system opens – Sunday 1 November 2020
Parents of children resident in Hampshire (not including Portsmouth or Southampton) wishing to apply for a place to start school or transfer to junior school (including schools outside Hampshire) can apply online. Paper forms are also available on request from any Hampshire schools or the County Admissions Team.
National deadline for Year 3 (junior school) applications – midnight, Friday 15 January 2021.
The online application system will close at midnight on this date. Paper application forms should be returned to a Hampshire County Council school during school hours or the County Admissions Team. by this date.
National notification date – Friday 16 April 2021.
Online applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by e-mail. They will also be able to log into the online system to view their application outcome. Parents who submitted an on-time paper application will be sent a letter on Monday 19 April 2021 by first-class post. Letters will also be sent to online applicants, in addition to their e-mail, who were not offered a place at their first preference school.
Admission Appeals Timetable for Year 3 in Sept 2021
Appeals for transfer to Primary School – Year 3
- Deadline date for parents wishing to lodge an appeal (returning completed appeal papers to the school is 14 May 2021
- Year 3 appeal hearings to be held 30 June 2021
- Decision letters to be sent Within 5 school days of hearing
- Appeals lodged after 14 May 2021 will be heard on the above date if possible, or within 40 calendar days (excluding school holidays) of the appeal being lodged. Appeals lodged after the beginning of June will not be heard until the autumn term.
- Following the lodging of an appeal, additional (evidence) papers may be submitted to Miss J Hathaway, GFM Admissions Officer – deadline dates for this will be advised during the appeal process. Evidence submitted after the date advised may not be considered in your case.

NB: Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic and arrangements for paper hearings, all parties will be able to contribute to Q&A. A schedule of dates and deadlines for this will be advised throughout the appeal process.
